It’s that time of year — not only my one-year anniversary of starting to draw, but also World Watercolor Month. Can’t wait to see all the great stuff everyone creates worldwide. Here’s my first painting of some frequent inspirations.
Stumbled upon Jenny Kroik’s work online and fell in love with the color, humor, and humanity in her urban portraits and countryside still lifes. Maybe if I sketch the artist herself, I can catch a bit of her spirit and mix it with my paint.
Stayed home tonight to sketch some drawings based on photos from Montevideo. Drew rapidamente in ink sin lapiz. Scared each time I started one, afraid I couldn’t do it. Did it anyway. Never quite what I expected, but always surprising in their own unique way.
My son’s coming home from Yosemite with his mom. I got a thick rib-eye to grill in the new copper pan with some onions and broccoli. Tonight, gonna have a big, old-fashioned, red-meat meal with my boy.
Another house I started to sketch while waiting for my son to get out of school. Did a few pencil studies over a couple days, plus a couple in ink. Each time, got a better feel and understanding of the facade’s design. So much to learn by just paying close attention.
